Introducing Nepean Chiropractor Dr. Damien Marion

After listening to patients history of suffering, I feel I was a "lucky" one. I was first introduced to chiropractic as an infant by my parents, who had adopted chiropractic into their lifestyle as a means to staying healthy.

I remember seeing my chiropractor every month or so growing up. But all in all, I felt pretty good and I went because I enjoyed the feeling of well-being that came with being adjusted. I always knew that chiropractic helped people with back pain, but I had never really experienced it for myself. That is until one day while I was working out, I was probably around 15 or 16 and, while doing back rows, I popped my pelvis out of alignment. I didn't know that at first of course, all I knew was that I couldn't bend down without putting my back into spasms and dropping to my knees. I went to my chiropractor, he explained what I had done to my pelvis, and within a couple of adjustments I was pain free! Seeing the power of chiropractic on that level, I made the decision to become a chiropractor so that I would be able to help people the way that I had been helped.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo in 2001 with a heavy emphasis on courses such as biomechanics, anatomy, neural anatomy and physiology to help prepare for the study material at Chiropractic College. After completing University, I attended Chiropractic College in Toronto at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, graduating in 2005. The course material included studies in anatomy, functional anatomy, biochemistry, biomechanics, chiropractic sciences, diagnosis, pathology, and radiology. During my time at CMCC, I also completed additional studies in soft tissue management and rehabilitation.

Our approach to care is based on a proactive model of health, rather than a reactive one. Our goals are to educate our patients to make healthier life choices and to embrace the wellness concept of staying fit and healthy, and to achieve their optimum health through natural chiropractic care.

I was raised in Waterloo, and moved to the Ottawa region in 2005 after finishing school to be with my fiancée. Together, we have established a successful equestrian business in the country, where we can be found working away on many weekends. I can also be found weight training and practicing martial arts in my leisure time, as well as catching up on a book whenever time allows.

Dr. Leo Asks some important questions of interest to Nepean residents - Chiropractor Nepean Dr. Leo Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
How do chiropractors help ADHD?
There is agreement that ADHD is a nervous system disorder. And while chiropractic isn't a treatment for ADHD, if your child has vertebral subluxation complexes, resolving them will often produce profound results. Click here to learn why more and more Nepean parents are choosing natural chiropractic care rather than dangerous psychotropic drugs.
